Muskiz is located in the northwest corner of the coast of Bizkaia (Vizcaya). It borders other municipalities in the mining area, such as Galdames (Encartaciones), as well as the neighbouring region of Cantabria.
The main road into Muskiz is the A-8 motorway, linking Bilbao and Santander.
It can also be reached from Burgos by local and secondary roads through the Encartaciones area.
