History
The Azkartzieta parent’s association was set up in 1996/97, to meet a need for a group to encourage sports.
In 2002/03, faced with increased difficulty in finding players for the teams, it was decided to unify all school sport in the municipality. The Muskiz handball association was founded as a result of this decision, and seeks to encourage children in the area to play the sport. Under the new unified system, pupils at all schools in the town now have access to sports facilities, which was not always the case in the past.
During the year, an Under-14 female handball group was formed, consisting of students from I.E.S. Muskiz B.H.I., the Marcelo Gangoiti centre in Ikastola Asti-Leku, run by the parents association of I.E.S. Muskiz.
During 2002/03 and 2003/04 meetings were held between members of the parents' associations of schools in the area, the Muskiz Handball Club and council representatives, to develop a new approach to handball in Muskiz.
In 2003/04 two Under-14 girls’ handballs teams were created in the town:
• Muskiz Eskubaloia A (for students born in 1990) with students from the I.E.S. Muskiz, Marcelo Gangoiti and Asti-Leku, run by I.E.S. Muskiz B.H.I.
• Muskiz Eskubaloia B): (for students born in 1991) with students from the I.E.S. Muskiz, Marcelo Gangoiti, run by Marcelo Gangoiti.

Other members of the board are: Mari Jose Camino (Deputy Chairperson); Martina Sánchez (Secretary); Iraida Piñeiro and Inmaculada Rubio (Treasurers); and Marian Piñeiro, María Leo Calleja, Belen Otxoa, Pilar Sanguesa and Josep Cortada (Ordinary Members).
The offices are in the school itself.
List of winings
Although the school is relatively new, it has already built up an impressive tradition of organising sports groups, with highly important school sports achievements. It is now a benchmark for girls' handball in the regional area. In 2004, it won the championship of Bizkaia, making it eligible to enter the Basque schools championship, which it also won, beating a team from Gipuzkoa in the final. Four players from the school are on the provincial Bizkaia team and another two are on the Basque squad.
