 CANTARRANA PUBLIC SCHOOL
 



  History

The Cantarrana public school has one of the finest sports record of any school in the Encartaciones area. School sports have played a leading part in its programme since 1974, when a number of teams participated in various categories of the first-inter-school games.

The school took part in several championships in the area (San Juan Championship, Handball Day, Muskiz School Tournament, Muskiz Town Council Under-14 Five-a-side Tournament), in the province (Ortuella Handball Tournament, Mining Area 5-a-Side Championship , Portugalete Spring Multi-Sports Championship) and outside the region: (Astillero 24 Hours of Handball, First Peña de Santander Easter Tournament and First Asociación de Castro Easter Tournament).

It has also participated successfully in other tournaments, including::
• A.P.A. Football
• El Cerro
• E.S. Otxartaga
• Ortuella Cultural Week

Members have participated in a number of cross-country runs in Muskiz.

The board is currently made up of the following people:
• Lourdes Escudero (Manager).
• Carmen Becares (Chairperson).
• Isabel Ramos (Secretary).
• Lourdes Escudero and Alicia Rojo (treasurers).
• Amaia Arteche, Remedios Cantarero, Mª Mar Hernández, Milagros Udaeta andy Teresa Etxebarría (Ordinary members).

The P. Cantarrana School Public has 230 members and its offices are in the school itself.

It is now working with students from several schools in the area, to provide opportunities for sports throughout the municipality.
