History
The Muskiz Handball Club was founded in 1967 to promote the sport among young people in the area.
It was originally called the Muñatones Sports Union and in the absence of any other facilities, had to use the Cantarrana public school installations. The court was opened and the first match played on 29 June 1968, between a team from La Salle and the Muñatones Sports Union.
The Muñatones Sports Union was responsible for introducing a minority sport, handball, to the area. It subsequently added other sports to its lists, such as basketball, athletics, tennis, etc.
For many years all the different sports all came under the same umbrella, bit it was finally agreed that they would function better if each section formed its own club.
The first chairman was Juan José Campos, who presided over the club for ten years, with José Antonio de La Peña as manager. De La Peña went on to hold the position of chairman for two years.
